(6.3cm tall) This bright and happy Shinto kitsune fox sculpture wants to bring warmth, joy, and the promise of a new dawn into the world. A lovely statue for a Shinto kamidana or just as a cheerful friend. And this one is extra special because it's rain raku! Those little spiderweb patterns in the glaze are where raindrops fell on the sculpture when the glaze was still vitrifying. Natural magic!
It's made of stoneware and has been raku fired for the amazing effects of flame and smoke.
Kitsune are the fox-messengers of the Shinto kami Inari Okami: the deity of rice, sake, agriculture, fertility, tea, and prosperity, among other things. Kitsune foxes guard Inari shrines and carry his/her messages to us.
Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, gentleness, and spirit to the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with natural materials.
(I am happy to combine postage on all items. Please either message me before you order and I can create a custom listing, or just order and I'll refund any excess postage fees. Thank you.)
