(6.1cm tall) Here is a very kind and lovely (and rather shy) bird friend. It feels a little lost in this world and doesn't understand why things have gone so wrong here. But it wants to keep us company while we try to fix them.
It's a fire bird because because it was glazed during the awful heat of summer 2026, and it has glaze disturbance marks that show how the climate can be too hot even for little friends who go through fire (because glaze minerals don't like very hot when glazing is happening). We're all struggling with what humans have done to this world, and this little one is a reminder that we must all do better. We must all work to fix this, to save what's left. And it will be right there with us.
It's made from stoneware clay, fired once, glazed with non-toxic glaze, and raku fired for the gifts of flame and smoke.
Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, and gentleness into the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with natural materials.
