(1.8cm tall) Here is a tiny, happy little blue raku Shinto Jizo pocket statue with a gentle sun on his head. He feels glad, calm, and contented: just what we all need! He would be lovely for a kamidana or shrine.
This little sculpture has been fired once, glazed in non-toxic glaze, and then raku fired with natural wood shavings for the amazing gifts of smoke and flame.
Jizo is a Japanese Shinto spirit, a kami who found his way to Japan through Buddhism. He is a guardian of women, children, and travellers; he comforts us through grief and bereavement.
Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, and gentleness into the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with only non-toxic material.
