Jizo and driftwood kamidana shrine raku sculpture | Shinto, pagan altar | protection, miscarriage, grief, guardian spirit statue
€68.00
This is a beautiful Shinto kamidana Jizo shrine with a wonderful piece of driftwood from l'Île d'Oléron off the west coast of France. Jizo herself is very sweet, contented and full of love; she sits balanced on her driftwood in her own little world of peace. She's not attached, so you can move her and place her how you like.
Jizo is 1.9cm tall, and her shrine is 7.5cm tall, about 4cm deep, 7.9cm wide (12.4cm including the driftwood). Both are made from stoneware, glazed in non-toxic glaze, and raku fired for the beauty of smoke and flame.
Jizo is a Japanese Shinto spirit, a kami who found his way to Japan through Buddhism. He is a guardian of women, children, and travellers; he comforts us through grief and bereavement.
Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, gentleness, and spirit to the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with natural materials.
(I am happy to combine postage on all items apart from clothes (which don't ship from me). Please either message me before you order and I can create a custom listing, or just order and I'll refund any excess postage fees. Thank you.)
